How Veriff verification works

GearLend uses Veriff, a specialist identity verification provider, to confirm renters' identities before a booking can be completed. The whole process is done on your device and usually takes just a couple of minutes.

Steps​

  1. When you go to book a rental for the first time, you'll be prompted to verify your identity.
  2. Follow the prompts to photograph a valid government-issued ID (driver's licence, passport, or similar).
  3. Complete a short liveness check — this usually means holding your device up and following on-screen instructions, to confirm the ID belongs to you.
  4. Veriff checks your details and returns a result, usually within a few minutes.

After you're verified​

Once verification is complete, you won't need to repeat it for future bookings on the same account.

If verification fails or takes longer than expected​

Occasionally a verification check needs manual review, which can take longer. If your verification doesn't go through, double-check that your ID is valid and unexpired, that the photos are clear and well-lit, and try again. If you're still having trouble, contact support@gearlend.com.au and include your account email so the team can look into it.
