Managing your listing's availability
Your listing's availability calendar controls which dates renters can request to book. Keeping it accurate is the easiest way to avoid double-bookings and having to cancel a booking after it's already been accepted.
Steps to update your availability
- Go to My listings and select Manage availability on the listing you want to update.
- To update your default schedule, select Edit default schedule. Here you can set recurring availability for specific days of the week.
- To manage specific dates, select Add an availability exception. Select the dates you want to block out, for example while you're using the gear yourself or it needs servicing.
- Select Save exception to save the change. Unavailable dates won't show as bookable to renters.
- To make a date bookable again, select Add an availability exception and choose Available.
Confirmed bookings block automatically
Once a renter's booking request is accepted, the shoot days it covers are blocked on your calendar automatically so the gear can't be double-booked. You don't need to block these dates yourself, and they can't be unblocked manually. To free them up again, the booking itself needs to be cancelled. See Cancelling a booking as a gear owner if a confirmed booking needs to change.
If a renter requests an extension
If a renter asks to extend a confirmed booking past its original return date, the extra days need to be open on your calendar for you to accept the request. See Extending a booking for how that request reaches you and what accepting it means for your calendar.
Why keeping this accurate matters
An out-of-date calendar is one of the most common reasons a confirmed booking ends up being cancelled, which affects your standing on the platform. See Reviews and reputation for how that works, or Setting your price and availability for how availability fits alongside pricing your gear.
