How payouts work
GearLend uses Stripe, a secure third-party payment processor, to handle payments and payouts across the platform. As a gear owner, you'll connect a Stripe account to your GearLend profile so you can receive payouts directly.
When you get paid
When a renter books your gear, GearLend collects the full rental payment upfront, including the security deposit. Your payout — the rental price minus GearLend's commission — is released once the rental is underway or completed, depending on the booking.
Fees
GearLend takes a commission from the rental price to cover the cost of running the platform, including payment processing, identity verification, and support. The exact commission is shown before you publish a listing and again at each booking, so there are no surprises. See How payments work for a full breakdown of fees on both sides of a booking.
Setting up Stripe
The first time you list gear, you'll be prompted to connect a Stripe account. This is a separate, one-time verification step handled directly by Stripe to confirm your bank details and identity for payout purposes.
